Allergy Season is Here

I’ve got my very own allergy counter at my house, and it even has a name. It’s Erin, also known as my 5-year-old girl. I didn’t have to have the talented meteorologists at NBC Bay Area News tell me the pollen count was high. I just had to take one look at Erin as I picked her up from daycare today. She had big ‘ole tears running down her face, and her eyes were all red and swollen, not from the tears, but from her allergies.  She looked like a pack of really pissed off bees attacked her, but instead it was simply from sweeping up the flowers at daycare, in really windy conditions. The poor kid was miserable, and as her mom, I felt miserable for her.  She was in pain.

As soon as we got home, I put her in the shower to get her rinsed off.  That combined with a doses of Zyrtec and Flonase, seemed to help out my poor allergic kid. Well that and a meal of pasta carbonara with extra bacon. Bacon always makes things better.

I don’t have before pictures, but here’s how she looked a couple of hours after the allergy attack.

Not too bad right? I mean I know she has a million watt smile, but thank goodness that familiar sparkle has replaced the swelling and redness to her eyes.
