An open birthday letter to one cute 3-year old:
I’m not sure how 3-years happened so quickly, but it did. Today Carrie, you are three, and you couldn’t be happier about it. You tell anyone who asks, that you’re about to have a birthday. You even volunteer the information to complete strangers. You flash that winning smile of yours, show off your dimple, and hold up three fingers to show you even know how to count to your age. You’re a genius in the making.
I know just about every parent says this about their own kid, but it’s amazing how much you’ve changed in the last year. Some of the changes we can see, from the several inches you’ve grown in a year, to the dozens of new words you’re using. Other changes we can’t necessarily see, but as your Mom, I know you’re gaining a huge amount of self-confidence. It’s wonderful to see your enormous brown eyes light up as you learn and discover new things.
You do everything you can to try to keep up with your big sisters. For the most part, they slow down enough for you to catch up, but every now and then when they don’t, you let them know it. You scream and cry and let it be known that you’re NOT AT ALL HAPPY! It’s that stubborn streak of yours that you get from me. You are a feisty and mischievous one, CJ. But for all the times you drive me to the brink of insanity, one hug and a “I love you Mommy,” makes it all worth it.
You make our lives infinitely more entertaining and interesting. I can’t wait to see how you continue to surprise us in the coming years.
Happy birthday kiddo!
